AI APP BUILDER · CREATE · CHANGE · RUN

Build your own
recipe portion calculator.

Etono is an AI app builder for your phone. In this tutorial, create Portion Pilot, ask for quick serving controls, and check the result inside Etono’s native phone app.

Actual iOS Simulator footage and held result frames. English UI and AI female voice. Prompt quotations accompany the finished result; they are not a replay of generation. Waits are omitted; a scope follow-up and Retry were needed. Music: “Life in Silico” — Scott Buckley, CC BY 4.0; excerpted, faded and mixed below narration.

THE NEED

A familiar need.
Your own version.

Changing the number of servings means changing ingredient quantities. We used that need in Paprika Recipe Manager 3 as a reference for a smaller, independent case. Portion Pilot uses an original name, interface and fictional data. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Paprika or its developer.

One purpose to start

Save base servings and numeric ingredient amounts, then scale them to a different serving count. The data below is an arithmetic test, not a tested recipe. No nutrition advice or unit conversion is involved.

1 · CREATE

Start with an idea.
Then define the scope.

Create a new app in Etono and send the actual first request below. It was short: the initial result expanded into meal preparation and nutrition fields. We narrowed the scope in the same project with the next request. A name alone did not define all the behavior.

ACTUAL FIRST REQUEST

create portion pilot in English

What this request does

Names the app and asks for English. This short request needed the scope follow-up below.

2 · REFINE

Name the fields.
Keep the same project.

Specify saved recipes, base servings, ingredient names, positive amounts and units, plus editing and reopening. When the scoped generation finished, we opened Run and checked the actual interface. All copy buttons retain the exact submitted English requests.

ACTUAL SCOPE FOLLOW-UP

with saved recipes base servings and ingredient names positive amounts and units let me add and edit recipes keep records after reopening and use English replies no plans or macros

What this request does

Defines saved recipes, ingredient fields and editing while removing unrelated meal plans and nutrition features.

3 · CHECK

Use simple numbers.
Check your result.

We kept the generator’s second test record and edited its first record into Demo mix: 4 base servings, Flour 200 g, Milk 300 ml, and the note Demo data. Save changes produced the “Recipe updated” confirmation.

The expected calculation is original amount × target servings ÷ base servings. Six servings should give 300 g and 450 ml; two should give 100 g and 150 ml. Units remain labels; no conversion between units is claimed.

What the phone showed

  • 4 → 200 g / 300 ml
  • 6 → 300 g / 450 ml
  • 2 → 100 g / 150 ml
  • Back to 4 → 200 g / 300 ml, without compounding the previous scaling.

4 · CHANGE

Ask for a change.
Add quick serving controls.

Return to the app conversation and request this specific change. The edit timed out, so we used normal Retry. After the quick controls were saved, we stopped the repeated generation checks and independently tested the interface. This trial needed follow-up work; it was not a one-pass generation.

ACTUAL CHANGE REQUEST

add two four six servings buttons keep recipes English only

What this request does

Adds three quick serving choices while preserving the existing recipes.

5 · RUN & REOPEN

Check the edges.
Reopen and verify.

Try the 6, 2 and 4 choices in order. Then test the minus control and zero base servings. Return to Projects, reopen the same app, and use Refresh preview. A generation message alone does not establish that these controls work.

Actual acceptance results

  • The minus control steps by 0.5. At 1.5 servings: 75 g / 112.5 ml. At 0.5: 25 g / 37.5 ml; another minus did not go below 0.5.
  • Saving a base-serving value of 0 was rejected with “Base servings must be greater than 0.” Cancelling preserved the legitimate record.
  • After reopening and refreshing, Demo mix, its note, base 4, both ingredients and the second test record remained.
  • The factor label rounds to two decimals: 0.125 appears as ×0.13. Ingredient amounts in this test used the correct unrounded ratio.

SCOPE & ACCESS

Your own need.
A checked result.

This AI app builder case demonstrates creating, changing and checking your own app. Review ingredient quantities yourself; the example is not a complete recipe service.

Acceptance covered the English iOS Simulator build above. Android, physical devices, negative ingredient amounts, blank names, maximum servings and persistence of the temporary target selection were not verified. Your generated result may differ and may need repairs.

Saved state was checked in the same project on this device. Uninstall/reinstall, full cloud sync and multi-device use were not tested. Apps run inside Etono; standalone export or store publishing is not claimed.

Etono is in early access. AI creation and editing require internet access and Credits. See current downloads, testing access and device requirements and Credit prices and regional payment conditions.
